FUCKING TWENTY ELEVEN, BABY!

Since we havn't been posting anything new in the last few weeks, we just wanna say that super-rad homeslices, Halloween Swim Team have posted a remix we did of their song,"Spaceship" some weeks back. You can find the whole post about it here. They will also be releasing their new LP, Antenaaa soon so you better watch out for that too coz we know, its gonna be blasting on everyone's speakers next year!

We have also been doing some recordings for a CD release of new magick orchids material
and a cassette tape release of minimal dance tracks. Our good friend and producer, Piry Echevarin also remastered "Sing Song Songs" which we will be posting here soon in full sonic power!

Also, we have no magick orchids shows until February 2011 to focus on other important things we are doing in life but you should definitely come check out the new cosmic dub noise project we've been doing with our friends called MAMAS JOY which features Denise on drums, Adam V on bass , Ray on keys, John on guitars/theremin and us on vox, loops and dubs. We don't really have any scheduled shows yet but who knows?

There's a video of the first show we ever played on Christmas Eve at Casa De Healthclub taken by our good friend Ashley Moon which you can view here.

magick orchids in NYC

So we played a show at NYC at the Yippie Cafe where we met the Pieman.
It was a fun show coz we played it with our good friends from LA, Manhattan Murder Mystery and champ played electronic drums for them too. Eric from Kill Kill Kill who was also in town played guitars for the magick orchids set too..its been great going around the city and exploring on our own. Hanged out with Katya of MMM/THC the other night and saw Excepter at the Silent Barn and the australian dude that plays with glass and that was lots of fun.

TICKETS AVAILABLE NOW ON-LINE ONLY: $40 by April 1st, $50 by May 1st, $60 by June 4.
A GATHERING FOR THE EVOLUTION OF THE HUMAN SPIRIT THROUGH THE ARTS.

The Promised Land: a landscape without limitations, where you can hear and discover music and performance art on stages, as well as in a rock cave or on a high mountain peak. A beach-like sandwash where your campsite is part of an entire tribal village celebrating each other, the expansive fresh air, as well as the full moon & a million stars at night. This land enhances magic, and your silent understanding! Within the sounds, the sculptures, the pyramid and the WaterSight Mineral Spring Dreaming Tubs, you awaken your senses.... you will find answers to questions that have gone un-..answered..... This is more than a festival gathering, this is about discovering your next level of creativity, with other brothers and sisters counting down to 2012.

TeleMagica provides a stage for painters, sculptors, musicians, poets, photographers, film makers, performance artists, neo-vaudville, graf artists and creative ritualists coming together for exchange of ideas and talents, for connectivity and collaboration on projects, and for rejuvenation in a world where the support for the non-commercial arts has been evaporating.

This is our 7th annual... in 09 we joined and Aligned the tribes and in 2010, en mass we will IGNITE from within to create LUMINESCENCE, straightening our individual emanations to connect with the emanations at large...

TeleMagica is put on by The Institute of Perception.
The Institute of Perception and TeleMagica are dedicated to the Evolution of the human spirit through the Arts.

ORGANIZING SOUNDS

here is what we have been trying to work on for Telemagica:

60 DISEASES FOR AN OPEN WOMB
organized and conducted by magick orchids

"mystical states are those moments in which the Other, in its many forms, is absorbed into the One and the One is absorbed into the Other."
- William James

the whole piece is based on the ancient Babylonian myth of Ishtar, goddess of fertility, love, war and sex who descends into the underworld to bring back her lover back to life.

in this sound art performance piece we will be combining sounds smell visuals broadcasts, music, vocal performance and tape effects to configure and transform the space into an environment of shared experiences that delve into the realms of multi-sensory perception and performance.

we will conduct this performance in an enclosed space and each player will be positioned accordingly to their specific parts. the whole piece is divided into several parts. Each part will be outlined with an underlying theme that will correlate with everything else that is going on.

The performers will use different sound sources and situate each unit in specific areas to achieve a remarkable level of intuitive improvisation for their parts. Certain foods and oils will be heated through a certain temperature to evoke certain smells for each of the different musical piece.

players:

rhea, champ, josh crampton (luna is honey), isaac takeuchi (voice on tape, slumberbeast, cardiopulmonary), andrew felix (we dress good, sending service), oliver fritz kurt dammasch(deadArt, DRD, guppies) denise duncan (the transmissions, not so ghost) duck dongo (manhattan murder mystery),andrew lush (live video projections), dave aguilar (low end sounds) liz ngo (smells and oils), and st. paul (energy)

we are also trying to work out a video for the event with our good friend and filmmaker, josh clarkson.

there are four musical pieces that we came up with for the performance. a lot of them are minimal by nature but sounds are organized and layered depending on the positions of players.

piece no. 1 : SO SURREAL
(water, darkness, death, doom, despair, desert, dust, rusty gates, rocks, crying, wailing)

piece no. 2: BODY PIRATES
(fire, party, orgasmic, celebration, bacchanalia, orgy, hedonism, dance, anarchy)

piece no. 3: PEDRO ON A BIKE
(metal, plea, statement, platform, explanations, excuses, demands, hope, escape)

piece no. 4: GET YR EDUCATION
(earth, love, realization, redemption, resolution, return, illumination)

visual projections will focus on the underlying themes of each specific part and the elements referred to from the myth and everything will end with the wind blowing everything away...

(A PROGRAMME WILL BE AVAILABLE AT THE PERFORMANCE.)

So Surreal

heres a clip of us playing at our house a few weeks ago...apparently we are not blessed with the best of cameras but we are lucky to have friends take footages of us regardless of the fact...great sax part from josh on this song called "So Surreal" which will be the first part of our sound art piece for telemagica festival. thanx charlene!

THIS WEEKEND

Tomorrow night, Friday April 2 our friend, David Wong asked us to play this show at Characters in Pomona. We are playing it with good friends Michael Nhat and Andrew Felix from We Dress Good. We haven't heard much of Phoenix and The Turtle but we're sure they're good too.

Then on Saturday our friends from Family Tree Analog asked us to play this show at the new location of Silver Factory. Our friend, Tony sez he is skeptical with bands who make flyers where their names are listed bigger than the other bands, meaning they better be worth their logo size. We don't really care but thats just Tony. B)

New Old Album: SING SONG SONGS

Flooded with long overdue releases, we have decided to release some recordings online. SInce we do not believe in the system in which the whole record and music industry operate, we found it best to just have our music available for everyone to enjoy and experience. These are the songs we were working a while back with our good friend, Piry of Family Tree Analog. Feel free to make copies and share with your friends. Do come to the shows and check back every now and then for more downloads.

TRAVEL TIMES TO THE PHILIPPINES!

We had an amazing Capricornications 2010 house show party at the Malo Funhaus last Saturday, January 2. We had touring bands at the house and dang! those guys were loud as thunder! We are just glad there were no popo's on the scene otherwise, it would have been a bummer for all of us! It was a great night though with great energy. The bands that played were The Girl With Violent Arms, Starskate, A Pack Of Wolves, who were all from Santa Rosa. The Health Club laid down the law at 1:30 in the morning and those guys sure know how to play the room because at 1:30 in the morning you don't wanna play like My Bloody Valentine inside the living room of a house -coz that would be really SUPERFLUOUS! would't you agree? Michael Nhat was supposed to play but i guess the vodka got between him and his set. So, there ya go! Capricornications friends that celebrated their birthdays that night were Meagan, Champ, Ryan, Jen, Ray (from Seasons), Guy (fom Starskate) and I'm sure many others. We are just glad the house wasn't as trashed as before! Hells yea!

And in case you are paying attention, magick orchids, hasn't played any shows for the new year yet. We have held back the releases of two recordings, one with Frank Moore and the other from a live show we did at The Malo Funhaus. We have been so occupied with many other things and we've been slowly adjusting to all the changes going on in our lives at this point. However, the good news is that we will be sharing our soundz to the Republic Of The Philippines where Champ is originally from. We honestly don't know what to expect from this tourness but we will try to post some bloggings about this. We are more than excited than anything to be able to share what we do to whoever will listen, explore the outdoors, the food, the festival that they are having at this island where Champ went to school and bask in the wonderful white sand beaches of Boracay. Our friends Denise and Kat will also be meeting us later on and we will have a blast! Yay! Anyways, here's a cool pic from our New Years Hike over at The Valley Of Enchantment.
